Syllabus 

Introduction

Welcome to Absence Management. This course explores the psychosocial causes of absenteeism in the workplace and how to implement effective strategies supported by research to reduce absenteeism. 


In this course, you will become familiar with interventions that have been shown to address psychosocial hazards that lead to absenteeism. The Proposed Framework for Successful Interventions will serve as a guide to taking a systematic approach in selecting, implementing, and analyzing programs to mitigate the impact of psychosocial hazards in the workplace.


Audience

This program is aimed at management and leadership seeking to prevent undesired levels of absenteeism through addressing psychosocial hazards as well as fostering and maintaining a culture of safety and wellness in the workplace.


Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will:

  • Recognize direct and indirect costs of workplace absenteeism, with a focus on addressing psychosocial factors
  • More accurately identify effective interventions in addressing psychosocial factors driving absenteeism 
  • Better understand the key elements in developing effective interventions in your workplace
  • Be introduced to best practices in workplace absence management
