Chronic neuropathic pain is particularly difficult to treat. It is resistant to many commonly prescribed analgesics and even when optimal medical management if offered, following treatment guidelines, many people continue to describe fairly intense and disabling pain. This webinar will explore the use of mindfulness-based intervention in chronic neuropathic pain conditions, with results from two recently completed clinical trials demonstrating intervention effectiveness. Gaps in our knowledge will also be highlighted with avenues for further research.
You will learn about:
- Burgeoning evidence supporting the use of mindfulness-based interventions in chronic neuropathic pain
- Gaps in evidence supporting the use of mindfulness-based intervention in chronic neuropathic pain
- Recent randomized controlled trial of mindfulness based stress reduction for people living with painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy
- Preliminary results from a randomized controlled trial of mindfulness-based stress reduction for breast cancer survivors with chronic neuropathic pain
